Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Spoor collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Spoor is operated by The Pew Estate LLC, a Florida limited liability company doing business as SpoorHunt (“SpoorHunt,” “we,” “us”). It covers the Spoor Hunt and Spoor Outfitter apps, spoorhunt.com, and spoorhunt.app. We do not sell your personal information.

1. Information you give us

  • Account information: name and email address (there is no password: we email you a code each time you sign in), and, for Outfitters, the business name, country, and phone number on your plan.
  • Trip information: trips you create or join, access codes, itineraries, gear lists, and notes; and, if you add them to a trip, your flights and hotel nights, and your emergency information (such as blood type, allergies, medication, and a contact at home), which only you and the trip’s organizers and their staff see.
  • Content you post: photos, video, trip reports, comments, harvest records, and messages.
  • Support requests: what you send us when you email [email protected].

What stays on your phone: a hunter using Spoor Hunt on their own keeps their hunts, pins, tracks, journal, photos, rifles, and packing lists in the app on their phone. They never reach us. Only what you share with a trip, or keep on a Spoor account, comes to us.

2. Information collected when you use Spoor

  • Precise location: used only to show where you are on the map, to drop a pin, to record where an animal fell, or to record your track. Your track is recorded only while Spoor Hunt is open on the screen, never in the background, and it stays on your phone. A pin or a harvest you add to a trip is sent to that trip. For the weather, the place of your hunt is sent to our weather provider rounded to about 1 km. We do not collect location at other times.
  • Photos and camera: accessed only when you choose to take or upload a photo or video. Photos can contain location data (EXIF); Spoor removes it from every photo before the photo leaves your phone.
  • Sync records: when your phone last synced with a trip, and its model name (such as “iPhone”), so the trip’s organizer can see who has joined. When you accept a trip’s terms, we keep when, which version, your phone’s name, and its internet address as the record of it, and send a copy to the trip’s organizer. The apps have no analytics or crash reporting tools. If you choose to share crash reports with app developers in your phone’s settings, Apple or Google may pass them to us.
  • Website visits: spoorhunt.com uses Google Analytics to see how the website is used: which pages are opened, how visitors found the site, their device and browser, and their rough location (country or city), worked out from their internet address. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so it can tell visits apart. We see reports with totals and trends, not who you are, and we never send Google your name, email, or anything from the apps. It runs only on the website; the apps have no analytics. To stop it, block cookies for spoorhunt.com in your browser, or install Google’s opt‑out add‑on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). We may also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies.
  • Purchase information: the status of your plan. Spoor Hunt Pro bought in the app is paid through Apple or Google. Plans bought on spoorhunt.com (Spoor Outfitter plans, and Spoor Hunt Pro) are paid through Stripe, our payment processor, which keeps your card; we keep only the plan, its status, and Stripe’s reference to it. We never receive your card number.

3. How we use information

  • To run Spoor’s features, such as maps, tracks, harvest logs, trips, and sharing
  • To connect you with your trip group and your Outfitter
  • To provide subscriptions and restore purchases
  • To provide support and send important service messages
  • To keep Spoor safe, enforce the Community Guidelines, and prevent fraud or abuse
  • To fix bugs and improve Spoor
  • To meet legal obligations

We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

4. Who sees your information

  • Other users: posts you make public are visible to other Spoor users. Trip content is visible to members of that trip, and a trip’s nightly picture page (its animals, photos, and names) to anyone its organizer sends the link to.
  • Your Outfitter: if you join an Outfitter’s trip, that Outfitter can see your name, contact details, and what you share with the trip. Outfitters must use it only to run your trip (see the Outfitter Account Terms).
  • Service providers: companies that help us run Spoor, such as hosting, payments, maps, weather, and email delivery: Hostinger (hosting), Google (email, through Google Workspace; the website’s typefaces, through Google Fonts; and website visit statistics, through Google Analytics), Stripe (payments on spoorhunt.com), Cloudflare (security checks on spoorhunt.com’s sign up and sign in forms, and counting website visits), Open‑Meteo (weather forecasts), EOX (satellite imagery for saved maps), and Apple (maps, App Store purchases, and notifications). They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Apple and Google: to process purchases and deliver the app.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect the rights and safety of users or others, or to report illegal activity such as poaching to wildlife authorities.
  • Business transfers: if SpoorHunt is merged, acquired, or sells assets, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

5. Advertising and tracking

Spoor does not show third-party ads and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Neither app contains advertising or tracking tools.

6. How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete it at once, and it leaves our backups within 14 days, except records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons, as described in the Account Deletion Policy.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Location: turn location off, or stop tracking, at any time in the app or in your device settings.
  • Photos and camera: change access at any time in your device settings.
  • Your data: you can ask to access, correct, download, or delete your information by emailing [email protected]. You can delete your account in either app (open Me, then Delete my account), or at spoorhunt.com/delete-account.
  • Marketing: unsubscribe at any time.

Depending on where you live, such as California, the EU, or the UK, you may have additional rights under local law. We honor those requests and will not treat you differently for making them.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls, and limited staff access, to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so keep your email account and your trip codes private.

9. Children

Spoor is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Users aged 13 to 17 may use Spoor only with a parent or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

Spoor is operated from the United States. If you use Spoor from another country, including on hunting trips abroad, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

11. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
